Craft Beer Manufacturer

Wingate provided a senior debt facility to fund a large craft beer manufacturer’s investment in equipment, along with working capital to support future growth for the company.

Waste-management Operator

Following an acquisition, our client needed to reset its capital structure to better suit the capital needs of the business going forward. Wingate provided a flexible funding solution that allowed our client’s existing facilities to remain in place and delivered long-term funding certainty.

Mining Company

Our client owns and operates a brownfield mine and sought funding in advance of a major capital raise. Wingate’s senior secured loan refinanced existing debt and funded a mine rehabilitation reserve, among other works.

Data-centre Operator

Wingate provided senior secured growth financing to an Australian specialised data-centre developer/operator, enabling the company to accelerate its business plan. Wingate funded the purchase and installation of computer processing equipment to connect into the company’s existing proprietary data centre infrastructure.

Consumer Finance Provider

Wingate provided mezzanine warehouse funding to support a growing personal and auto loan portfolio underpinned by organic expansion of product offerings, increased origination channels, and new partnership opportunities.

Agricultural Manufacturer

The company specialises in the manufacture, packaging, and supply of value-added products for garden care, animal feed and animal bedding. A senior secured loan was used to refinance existing debt and support working capital to expand manufacturing capacity for its animal feed and animal bedding product lines.

Selwyn Schroeder

Managing Director, Corporate Investments

Selwyn has over 20 years’ experience in property and corporate finance in Australia and internationally.

His extensive experience includes credit risk approval, credit portfolio management, and the management of distressed corporate and property debt and equity portfolios.

Selwyn has experience driving performance and corporate turnarounds at board level in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Daniel Shap

Executive Director, Corporate Investments

Daniel brings over a decade of expertise in corporate finance, specialising in mid-market direct lending and structured credit.

Since joining Wingate in 2018, he has progressed to Executive Director at Wingate Corporate Investments, based in Melbourne. In this position, Daniel oversees borrower relations, origination, structuring, and execution of a wide array of debt transactions across the capital stack.
His career began as a corporate advisor in Deloitte’s M&A Transaction Services team, where he earned his Chartered Accounting qualification.

He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Melbourne.

Corey Dawson

Executive Director, Corporate Investments

Corey has over 25 years of experience in corporate credit, private equity and capital markets across Australia and the UK.

Prior to Wingate, Corey was a founding member of Pacific Equity Partners’ Capital Solutions Credit platform, was ANZ Head of Leveraged and Acquisition Finance for Morgan Stanley and Westpac, as well as Head of Corporate Transactions for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group in London.

He has an MBA from CASS City of London Business School and a Bachelor of Business and International Finance from Griffith University.

Daniel Max

Director, Corporate Investments

Daniel has over 20 years’ experience working in corporate credit, with varied focuses, including investment banking, investing and trading, and advisory.

Beginning his career in New York, Daniel held roles at Merrill Lynch and Lazard Capital Markets. Since relocating to Melbourne in 2015, and before joining Wingate, Daniel worked in Deloitte Australia’s Financial Restructuring Group. He assisted Victoria’s Department of the Treasury in managing their state-sponsored insurers.

Sam Cohen

Associate Director, Corporate Investments

Sam has 8 years of finance experience, primarily focused on mid-market private debt and equity transactions.

Sam is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University (Accounting and Finance).

Katrina Wu

Associate, WCI

Katrina has over 5 years of experience in private credit, project finance, and credit risk management.

Prior to joining Wingate, Katrina worked in the Diversified Credit team at IFM Investors, where she was responsible for underwriting and executing debt financings across a diverse range of industries, capital structures, and risk. Katrina holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of Melbourne.

Asif Ahmed

Associate, Corporate Investments

Asif has over 10 years of experience across the credit spectrum including: special situations and opportunistic credit investment, event driven financing, and performing corporate loans.

Asif holds a Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University.

Justin Hau

Associate, Corporate Investments

Justin brings over 8 years of financial services experience across Investment Banking, M&A and Private Credit.

Prior to joining Wingate, Justin worked as an Investment Manager within Archibald Capital’s private credit team.
